Olympians, Celebrity Athletes and the Humane Society To Gather At 2007 Cynosport World Games To Promote Positive Interaction With Animals

Scottsdale, AZ (PRWEB) August 29, 2007 -- World and Olympic champion Bruce Jenner will host the United States Dog Agility Association's 2007 Cynosport® World Games in Scottsdale, Arizona. The gold medalist will be joined by other high-profile athletes and celebrities attending the event in support of the Humane Society of the United States and its quest to promote positive interaction with animals.

"Many athletes are dog lovers, including me," says Bruce Jenner. "Cynosport Games is a great family event with an Olympic spirit to it. It's an important reminder that there are many sporting events we as pet owners can get involved in that are not associated with any form of mistreatment."

The 2007 Cynosport® World Games' selected national charity is The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS). The HSUS will have a special booth at the event where celebrities and athletes can gather to speak out against animal cruelty and speak up for positive pet activities such as dog agility. Renowned boxer Winky Wright and other athletes are expected to be among the celebrity sports figures attending the event.

People in more than fifty nations on six continents engage in dog agility competitions. Many events include standard agility courses with ramps, tunnels, weave poles and hurdles in a race against the clock, while others are geared more for entertainment such as dock jumping and herding.

Local qualifiers are eligible to compete in regional championships where they can advance to the semi-finals or finals. Olympic diving champion Greg Louganis and his dog competes in dog agility events and has already advanced to the finals of this year's competition.

The local Scottsdale Police Department's K-9 unit will also be on hand to perform a demonstration to show how dogs are used to in a positive manner to assist police personnel in a variety of law enforcement activities.

The 2007 Cynosport® World Games which features the final rounds of the worldwide competitions will be held October 31st through November 4th at the WestWorld Equestrian Center in Scottsdale and will be aired on a cable network later in the year (TBA).
