My biggest pet peeve when it comes to parent nagging is when they tell me to stop playing games! I play video games to relieve stress. Not to damage my brain. When I played video games in my teenage years, I not only became a good son and stayed at home, but I also prevented going out doing drugs and trying out weird things. I instead learned a wide range of history facts and new vocabulary words. We are in the era of technology. We learn about the minimum requirements a computer can handle for which game, we know what an ATI Radeon 9800 PRO is. Of course, anything to the extremities is detrimental. An hour or two after a hard days work or school can do wonders to the body. Some people smoke to relieve stress, some drink, I find that playing video games can par up to any of that. I believe that anything that benefits you is not a waste. Playing games online can help you make new friends, experience interaction with different types of people not in your area, or even yet, from another country. Team play coordination is also learned. We learn to communicate and coordinate with each other in games such as starcraft or warcraft. The only downfall are the MMORPG games such as World of Warcraft, boys and girls need to be careful about these games that can cause an addition and possibly ruin real life relationships and school work. Computer games are not a waste of time as long as you play casually and not seriously, there are many other things to do in life.
