Adventures in Wine Gala a Success for Sacramento Kids
Sacramento, CA (PRWEB) October 17, 2007 -- Philanthropists and wine connoisseurs alike gathered at the prestigious North Ridge Country Club last Friday night for the third annual Stanford Home Adventures in Wine gala to benefit Stanford Home for Children. The Adventures in Wine gala, a Sacramento premier fine wine event, boasts over 300 different rare and exotic vintages. This year's 190 attendees successfully raised over $100,000 to benefit the many programs offered at Stanford Home for Children.
"Adventures in Wine is always a highly anticipated event for wine lovers and for the supporters of Stanford Home," said Steve Horton, Director of Development for Stanford Home for Children. "The event raises money for innovative programs like our family finding program that connects children in the system to safe and loving family members."
The event began with a silent auction and also included wine, chocolate and olive oil tasting provided by local growers. The excitement continued into the live auction where a bottle of the late Governor Leland Stanford's own wine from 1890 was auctioned off to one lucky bidder.
The highlight of the night was when attendees pledged over $27,000 in less than five minutes during the fund-a-need portion of the evening. Those funds will be generously matched by the Association of Commercial Real Estate (ACRE) in Sacramento, which has selected Stanford Home for Children as its charity of choice for the 2008 Broker of the Year Award.
